In this project my aim is to explore the idea of how the principles of form and function in fields such as design and architecture have remained the same or changed as time has gone on. to start of this topic, I have chosen to look at the theme of retrofuturism because of the way that it draws people in. it creates this feeling of "faux-nostalgia" which, especially in people that have seen or heard of these ideas in their lifetime, has this unique effect that cannot really be achieved through anyone else. I feel that it will allow me to create interesting and unique work while still giving me the wide breadth of different areas to look at within the theme. I will do this by experimenting with a variety of materials and techniques. I will be creating experimental pieces of work that I will then evaluate so I can decide which techniques and elements work best for me to create my final piece. I will use a variety of materials such as pencil pen and paint, but I will try to stick to using digital mediums as this is where I am strongest and create the best pieces of work. I hope that by looking at artists that use digital and three di mediums to convey the theme of retro futurism I can further my skills and develop my technique and style in these areas.

 

 

I will look at a range of artists who encompassed the different areas of retro futurism such as in architecture, concept art and design. such artists include Simon stalenhag and john lautner and later move on with a greater focus of the architectural aspect of this question as this is an area of great interest to me and one i would like to explore.
